The large crowds of Asian Americans that bought out entire theaters and posted selfies also marked the film as a seminal cultural moment for a community that has long felt invisible, on and off screen. At the same time, the film\u2019s representation of privileged Asian life\u2013portrayed by a diasporic Asian cast\u2013has sparked a flurry of think-pieces, social media debates, and dinner table conversations about the burdens and blemishes of the film\u2019s representation.
